Spray Tanning
There is a hot new trend in the world of tanning. Spray tanning gives you a beautiful golden glow without harmful UV rays and is the method of choice for starlets, socialites and even those of us who aren't rich and famous. Today's tanning salons are offering more than just tanning beds, they are offering sessions in the spray tan booth. The most popular type of spray tan is called Mystic Tan. Mystic Tan is applied in a booth that looks somewhat like a shower stall. The process is quick and easy but takes some preparation.
The first step is proper exfoliation. If you do not exfoliate your skin properly your spray tan will look blotchy and streaky. Poor exfoliation is the usual culprit when streaks or splotches appear. There are products especially made for pre-tanning. They include scrubs that are applied to the body while in the shower and rinsed off. A loofah sponge can help get stubborn patches like knees and elbows that may require more scrubbing. Once you've exfoliated properly, you are ready to move on to step two.
Step two of the Mystic Tan process is to cover areas that you don't want the tanning spray to reach. This means putting a hairnet over your hair, paper booties over your feet and a special cream on your hands, elbows and knees. You don't want the palms or sides of your hands getting tan so it is important to cover them with cream or Vaseline. Tanning salons sell a particular type of cream that prevents the active ingredient in the tanning solution from penetrating the skin. Now you are ready to enter the booth. The procedure is simple, just hold your breath, close your eyes and wait for the spray. Then, turn around so your back can be sprayed, and that's it. After leaving the booth you towel off then get dressed. Wear old clothes as the bronzer may stain.
Spray tanning takes only a few seconds but the effects can last for up to a week. When you think about the fact that you only have to go once a week as opposed to every day the expense seems more affordable. When you get a spray tan from your local tanning salon they may ask you how dark you want it. Start off light at first so you can see what it looks like before going up to the next level. If you find there are splotchy areas after tanning you can even things up with a little exfoliation.
